Our guide to the first home owners grant

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

Are you a first home buyer?

If your answer is yes, did you know that the Queensland State Government offers first home buyers significant grants. We have all the info, so read on and find out you are eligible.

What is the first home owners grant?

The FHOG is a state government initiative to help first home owners get into their new home sooner.

The first home could be a home, unit, townhouse or apartment, but it must be completely new and can’t have been sold as a residential property before, making it the perfect opportunity to build your new PJ Burns Builder home, and create a space that it truely your own.

What is the value of the first home owners grant?

The value of the grant depends on your contract date. For contracts dated 1st July or later, the current grant is $15,000.

Keep in mind, for older contracts that were dated from 1st July 2016 – 30th June 2018, or October 2012 – 30 June 2016, the grant is $20,000.

The FHOG is a one-off payment, and you must apply for the grant within 1 year of your new home being completed.
